Ascensia Diabetes Care Senior Expert (Contracting Manager II), Strategic Contracting in Parsippany, New Jersey

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:

  • Serves as principal point of contact both internally and externally for contract portfolio for Diabetes Care within targeted business channels for creation, amendments, and renewals of contracts while ensuring compliance with Ascensia’s policies and procedures and contract guidelines.

  • Serves as the Strategy Lead over complex and/or critical large accounts across all contract types.

  • Ensures consistent creation and workflow of contract documents by coordinating with Legal, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and all other key stakeholders within the ADC US or Global business as required.

  • Develops and maintains best practices to ensure continual compliance with Ascensia Diabetes Care policies.

  • Supports and identifies needs to improve operations and processes of the group and independently leads any changes or improvement efforts.

  • Develops and maintains good customer relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provides consistent high quality service level to all internal and external customers ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and courteous follow-up.

  • Creates strategically sound contracts and provides contract solutions that will satisfy both customer and business needs.

  • Management over complex and/or critically large valued contracts.

  • Provides solutions in the development of contract strategy.

  • Independently leads and assumes ownership of all cross functional efforts in Strategic Contracting (in Project management form) for any large, critical RFP and/or bid that may develop significant risk to the organization. Provides proactive communication throughout RFP/bid process.

  • Provides strategic input and co-development of complex Sales Strategies and presentations with and for Key Decision Makers and Executive Leadership.

  • Provides ad hoc analysis and risk assessments as needed to evaluate sales offers, execute on look back analysis’ and determine contract value and compliance.

  • At advanced senior levels, this expert position also manages agreements that define new technologies or services newly launched by ADC. Service agreements require an additional level of business knowledge and the capability to rapidly translate constantly evolving business developments into contracts that retain the same high level of value and protections that have been developed for established businesses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial pharmaceutical contracting.

  • Strong interpersonal / analytical/communication skills with ability to integrate information from multiple sources.

  • In-depth knowledge of working with complex and specialized contracts up to and including GPO/PBM contracts and/or contracting with the Government.

  • Strong understanding of Medical and Pharmacy Benefit economics.

  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage information and input from several functions and sources.

  • Ability to communicate decisions and recommendations effectively throughout Diabetes Care at all levels.

  • Ability to independently structure customer contracts that accommodate business strategy requirements while maintaining administrative and financial responsibilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Diabetes Care / Medical Device, GPO/PBM pharmacy benefit, and/ or government markets.

  • Experience in Commercial Business Strategy

  • In depth knowledge of State Medicaid and Government contracts.
